Does anyone know how to crochet a rose?

Hello, does anyone know how to crochet a rose or have a pattern on how to crochet a rose or flower. I just finished crocheting a purse but I wanted to doll it up a little with a little rose or flower.

I have used this one from lionbrand several times. Just a word to the wise, it looks better to do either the medium or large flower as there are not really enough repeats in the small to wrap around.

 

 

It works up quite quickly and easily and is very simple to do.

I've tried this one a couple of times and crocheting the flower is no problem, but I can't achieve the roll it up and stitch it part. Mine look all tall and straight up, the petals are on top of each other instead of laying out pretty. Any advice on the rolling part? And when you stitch, are you stitching all the way around the edge?
