Scarf length

When you crochet a scarf, how long, on average is it? I don't follow a pattern so I tend to eyeball it and I was wondering how long a typical scarf is.

there is no typical.. every one likes all different lengths..

 

i guess i would say 6 foot would be the average.. i like mine longer.. way longer.. and some ppl like theirs way shorter.. it all depends on the style of the scarf as well as the yarn being used as well.. for me anyway

Thanks! The one I'm working on now is just over 6 feet (made from homespun) but the one I made before it was much longer, maybe 8 feet or so. I'm making it for a friend so I don't want it to be too long... know what I mean?

For me length depends on width - If I want a scarf wide enough to go over my face & ears (cold winter winds) then I actually want it pretty long - so that I can wrap it around my head & neck and still have ends to tuck into my jacket. If I want a skinny fashion scarf then it'll either be really short - say 3', or super duper long to wrap around my neck once & do all kinds of nifty drapey things like a boa - 8-10 feet.

I make my scarves about 5 feet long. I don't like very long scarves. I am short enough as it is, and having a long scarf draped around me makes me look even shorter! LOL
