Hi. What does everyone charge for baby afghans?

Does anyone charge for their time?

I didn't as I didn't want to drive up the price, so I charged just enough for my materials.

I made this afghan and hat for a co-workers niece. The yarn was $20 and I charged $40. It was super easy so the standard 3 times the cost of materials didn't seem right to me.

I think the normal pricing of 3 times what the materials cost is pretty standard.

 

But, I also think of who is buying it. If it's a relative, or a friend, it may be a little cheaper than say a co-worker or a person at a craft fair.

 

It also depends on how hard it was to make. An easy pattern, which may use a lot of yarn, may not be as high of a price as something that was very intricate and time consuming but uses less yarn.

 

Your price has to be something that's affordable, and realistic. People won't pay $100 for a baby blanket, but maybe they will for a bed-sized afghan.
