help increasing pattern from dishcloth to clothes

I'm working on one now also. I guess it depends on which site you got your pattern from. I'm using worsted weight RD doubled. I'm using an L hook. The instructions I'm using only called for a K and that was really small. I went up one size. I'm sorry I didn't do at least an N hook. It's okay, but not as full as I'd like.

I do believe Dot has a pattern for pants for newborns..you might want to try her site. But if you wanted to make those JUST like the kitchen pants..it's basically just two squares tied together with a ribbon. For actual baby pants, I would imagine you would need two rectangles though. Just make them wide enough to go around the baby's waist (you can measure the baby's waist and divide by two) and the length..pick any stitch you like and go from there.
