Well, there are certainly *some*! Crochet Master Class, a recent book by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss, features two: Jenny King, an Australian crochet designer; and the reigning Queen of free-form crochet, Prudence Mapstone. Seek out their websites and start poking around; there may be classes or other presentations in NSW.

Jenny has a yarn shop, Jenny King Designs, in Marcoola, Queensland. I'm not sure where you are in NSW, but you're at least on the same side of the continent!

 

By the way, Jenny is going to be my roommate at CGOA's Chain Link conference in Greensboro, NC in July. I can't wait.
