How loose should loose be when it says 'loosely'? (about how long should one ch be? 1cm, ?)

The way I do that is to just make sure I make the chains looser than I usually do. When making the chain just pull up a little more than you would normally do.

Hi, I usually go up one hook size and make my chain with that. That way I have bigger loops, but uniform in size. Hope this helps you!

I do like Elvee and use a bigger hook to make the chain. Just be sure to remember to change crochet hooks at the end of the chain. (I have trouble with that one!)

If you cant just ease up on the tension of your chain, certainly use a larger hook as long as you dont go too big and end up with a loopy edge.

Someone posted a way of doing your foundation CH row which was very different to anything I have seen before. It was very elastic and would be ideal to learn if you have a problem doing the CH too tight. Maybe the person will see this and post it again. It was well described and easy to follow.

What about just taking the yarn and hook and making a huge long chain and keep going until you get more relaxed. Unravel it when you are done with it.

I do the same thing. If the size of the hook called for is on the large size, I go up one size. But if the hook size that is called for is on the small size, I might go up 2 sizes.
