Materials:


Worsted Weight Yarn
Size E hook (3.50mm)
Stitch Marker
2 Poney Beads (for eyes)
Poly-fil
Yarn needle (to weave in ends)


Finish Size: 3 1/2" Long x 2"h x about 1"w inches

Different Stitches:

Beaded Sc- Insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull up a loop, take hook out of loop, slide bead onto loop, insert hook back into dropped loop, yarn over and pull thru both loops on hook.

Sc Decrease next 2 sts together- Insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull thru all 3 loops on hook.

Extended Double Crochet (EDC)- Yarn over, insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, draw thru 1 loop, yarn over, pull thru 2 loops, yarn over, pull thru 2 loops.

Treble Crochet (TC)- Yarn over 2 times, insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull up a loop, [yarn over, pull thru 2 loops] Do this 3 times.

Notes:

Fish is crocheted in a continuous spiral, do not join unless noted to.

Mark first st of each Rnd with stitch marker, moving stitch marker up as you go along.

Directions:

Rnd 1: Ch2 leaving a tail, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook crocheting over tail.

Pull tail taut to close hole from starting.

Rnd 2: [2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st] Do this 3 times.
(9sc)

Rnd 3: [1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] Do this 3 times.
(12sc)

Rnd 4: 2 sc in next st, Beaded sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, Beaded sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts.
(15sc)

Rnd 5: 1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, ch5, sl st in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in next chain, 1 hdc in next chain, 1 sc in next chain, sl st in same chain (top fin made), 1 sc in each of the next 9 sts.
(15sc + top fin)

Rnd 6: 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, skip top fin making sure fin is on the outside of fish, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts.
(18sc)

Rnd 7: 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, ch3, 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sl st in next chain (first flipper made), 1 sc in each of the next 12 sts, ch3, 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sl st in next chain (second flipper made), 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts.

Rnd 8: 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, skip flipper making sure flipper is on the outside of the fish, 1 sc in each of the next 12 sts, skip flipper making sure flipper is on the outside of the fish, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts.

Rnd 9: 1 sc in each of the next 18 sts.
(18sc)

Rnd 10: [1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc decrease next 2 sts together] Do this 2 times, 1 sc in next st also going thru end of top fin* (this will make sure the top fin stays down and put), 1 sc in next st, sc decrease next 2 sts together, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, [sc decrease next 2 sts together] Do this 2 times.

*By inserting hook into top end of fin before inserting hook into next st, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull thru both loops on hook.

Rnd 11: {[sc decrease next 2 sts together] Do this 2 times, 1 sc in next st} Do this 2 times, sc decrease next 2 sts together, 1 sc in next st.

Stuff fish but do not over stuff!!! Fish should be some what squishy and not firm.

Tail Fin:

Row 1: Ch1, fold Rnd 10 flat (your going to close the fish shut by working thru the 2 thicknesses), [1 sc in next st also going thru coordinating st behind it] Do this 4 times, ch1 and turn.

Row 2: [sc decrease next 2 sts together] Do this 2 times and turn.
(2sc)

Row 3: Ch3, (1 EDC, 1 TC, 1 EDC) all in first st, ch3, insert hook in same st, yarn over, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull thru all 3 loops on hook, ch3, (1 EDC, 1 TC, 1 EDC) all in same st, ch3, sl st in same st.

Finish off and weave in ends.
