Do baby cocoons/sleep sacks work?

I want to make one (or 4) for a friend (or 4) I know who are due this year. But I want to know if they work and if they work and if people use them.

 

Also, what are some super quick patterns to work up for babies? I'm student so I don't have as much time to crochet.

I have never used one but wish I had known about them when my kids were smaller. I would definitely make one for a new baby especially if baby is due in the cold months. I think it is a great way to keep baby swaddled while sleeping. I wish I had a pattern to share but have not looked yet. Good luck!

I'm not a mom, but (I would think) a bunting that opened in the front would be easier to use.

I have 2 patterns on my blog as well as here on the 'ville. I made one for my cousin who just had a boy and she loves them. She said that what she does is rolls it up his body when he is fussy to get him in it. I find that they are easy to make and don't take too much yarn. Good luck!
