Cabbage Patch Swaddling...Good Idea or Not???

I've posted this in seeking patterns as well, but I really just want advice on whether this sounds like a cute idea or not. I have a friend who is expecting and I want to make her a few cute cocoons and swaddling sets. I'm already making a teddy bear cocoon for her and had the idea of turning her baby into a cabbage patch baby.

 

My thought was to make a round baby blanket in shades of soft green and ruffle the edge. On my increases, I have considered using fpdc to create a ridged effect, like veins in a cabbage leaf. Either that, or I could go through afterward and embellish over the increases to create the vein pattern. To top it off, a cute ruffled matching hat. I think that once the blanket is wrapped around the baby and the hat put on, it would be a cute little package worthy of BabyLand General Hospital.

 

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on this, please let me know, I'd really appreciate it. If the pattern works out, I'll post it here.
