I've found that using some nylon thread held with the cotton helps for extra scrubbing power.

Sure do. All I have are crocheted and some knitted dishcloths. I, too, use cotton yarn. I prefer a looser weave pattern, but it is a personal preference. Try one, you will like it.

I thought the idea was crazy before I tried. Now I make new ones out of any scrap cotton yarn that I have. It's a great way to get rid of the scrap stash, and they make easy made gifts.

 

Linnen is the best material I think, but I don't buy linnen yarn just for the dishcloths.

I've made a few dishcloths also, and I always use 100% cotton!
