Softening Acrylic Yarn?

Is there any way to make acrylic yarn softer?

I've found, that once you make your object of choice, just throwing it in a warm dryer for a few minutes softens it.

A couple of trips through the washer and dryer works wonders. Honest.

i throw it in the dryer (dry) with a dryer sheet. comes out looking new and much softer.

Thanks so much! I've offered to crochet a baby blanket for one of my friends, but all I have is acrylic WW yarn and I don't have any money to go out and buy baby yarn so I'm glad that there's something I can do to make the blanket gentler for baby's skin.
