Crocheting w/ Plarn

Hi guys! I have a question for you. Can you use plarn to make any pattern or just patterns specificaly made for plarn? The reason I am asking is that i wanted to make a backpack out of plarn but could not find a plarn pattern.

I've used regular purse patterns and adjusted slightly when using plarn, I've also done a lot of winging it when using plarn, not sure if she has a backpack pattern but Recycle Cindy has loads of plarn pattern at myrecyledbags.com

Plarn can be used just like regular yarn, just keep in mind that it is a different texture than what's probably called for and if gauge is important in the pattern you'll want to watch that too.

I would think you could make a backpack from a pattern with plarn as long as you know the texture is plastic & the hook size may need playing with to get the gauge right. I'd make a little swatch to see what size you're getting vs the gauge in the pattern if there is one stated.
