Baby blanket help

I want to make a baby blanket that is used with 2 strands of baby weight yarn and I don't know what needle to move up to. The yarn does not suggest a size to start with and so I have no Idea what needle to use if I double the yarn. I want the blanket to be good and think but not firm. Does this make sense?

Oh ya if the stitch matters I will be using the "crazy stitch." Where you flip the blanket from corner to corner rather than side to side.

I would likely use a 6.5mm hook for that yarn double stranded. It would likely give you a nice drapey fabric that would be very warm

 

Just to be sure... do you mean baby weight (a 2/6 weight) or sport weight (a 3/6 weight)?
