Seeking Potholder Pattern

pfirsch

Question

I am going to make a set of potholders for a male friend and I was wondering anybody had any suggestions. :think

I usually make the Viennese Potholder, but I wanted to try something different this time.

There are only two requirements:

1) it must be functional; and of course,

2) man-friendly

The best cooks I happen to know are men. They all like the magic square potholders because they are actually thick enough to protect from burns. They are easy to make and look great in variegated cottons, like Lion Kitchen Cotton, Salt and Pepper.

Here's some others I have made for men.

Probably the most favorite are these oven mitts made with the poholder stitch. They are also a good candidate for variegated cottons.
