Slippers

Pattern by Frances Oldenburg :)

*Can be no sew if pajama feet material is not used.*

Pics at bottom

If you live with ceramic tiles as I do, they are very hard on crocheted slippers. I recommend sewing pajama feet material, (can be bought in any fabric store), on bottom of the slipper to help them last longer. I still use 2 layers on the bottom (feet) part of the slipper as it not only cushions your foot, but it hides the machine sewing used to put the pajama feet bottom on, so they look professional.

These are for size 6½, (7, 7½, 8, 8½, 9, 9½, & 10 are in brackets).

A size 4mm (Canadian), or G (American) hook is used and worsted weight yarn.

Stitches used:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet, (sc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Half Double Crochet decreased (hdc dec)

Double Crochet (dc)

Do not join ends with a slip stitch as this slipper pattern is made in rounds, or ovals.

Starting at sole, chain 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37)

**Round 1

3sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 9 (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16), 1hdc, 10(11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)dc, 5hdc in toe, then turning to other side of oval, 10dc (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17), 1hdc, 9sc (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16), End of round 1. 48 stitches (50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60. 62)

**Round 2

2 hdc in each of the 3sc in heel end, 1 hdc in next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34), 2hdc in each of the 5hdc at toe end of oval, 1 hdc in next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, end of round 2. 56 stitches (58, 60 62, 64, 66, 68, 70)

**Round 3

In first stitch of heel end 2hdc, 1hdc in next stitch, 2hdc in next stitch, 2hdc in next stitch, 1hdc in next stitch, 2hdc in next stitch, makes 10 stitches in heel end of slipper. 1hdc in each of the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34), stitches, shaping toe end now, 2hdc in next stitch, 1hdc in next stitch, 2hdc in next stitch, 1hdc in each of the next 4 stitches, 2hdc in next stitch, 1hdc in next, then 2hdc in the next stitch, 1hdc in each of the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, end of round 3. 64 stitches (66, 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, 78)

**Round 4

1hdc in each of the 10hdc at heel, 1hdc in each of the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, shaping toe end now, 2hdc in the next stitch, 2hdc in the next stitch, 1hdc in each of the next 10 stitches, 2hdc in the next stitch, 2hdc in the next stitch, 1hdc in the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, end of round 4. 68 stitches (70, 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 82)

**Round 5

2hdc in next stitch, 1hdc in the next stitch, 2hdc in the next stitch, 1 hdc in the next 4 stitches, 2hdc in the next stitch, 1hdc in the next stitch, 2hdc in the next stitch (heel made), 1hdc in the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, 2hdc in each of the next 2 stitches, 1hdc in each of the next 14 stitches, then 2hdc in each of the next 2 stitches (toe made), then 1hdc in the next 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34) stitches, slip stitch and end of sole. Sew in any loose ends, end of round 5. 76 stitches (78, 80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92)

Now we repeat from starting chain of 23 to end of round 5 and make a 2nd sole, but do not slip stitch at end as we go on from here.

***** Now would be the time to sew the pajama feet material to the bottom of this foot as it will be the bottom of the whole slipper (make a pattern of the slipper on the back of the pj material and cut to sew on. PS: Make sure you do not sew over your stitches needed to continue on, {or over your yarn as I have done this LOL} *****

**Round 6

Put the first sole made on top of this new sole just made so they match up, now working through back loops only on sole just made and both loops on the 2nd sole on top of this one, hdc around, back to heel, end of round 6.

Now working though both loops to finish of slipper

**Round 7

Hdc at middle of heel end, hdc around this round back to heel, end of round 7.

**Round 8

1hdc in each stitch to 8 stitches before middle of toe end, then hdc dec over next 2 stitches 8 times, 1hdc in each stitch to end of round, end of round 8

**Rounds 9 & 10

Repeat round 8.

**Round 11

1hdc in each stitch around.

**Round 12

slip stitch in each stitch around then end off cutting yarn off so to leave enough to sew in end.

***Repeat all for 2nd slipper bottom. If you are using *pajama feet material*, this is the bottom you will sew it to before putting on the side walls of the slipper. Use a machine to sew them onto, zigzag around the outside of the material, and then I like to put a straight stitch around them about an inch in from the edge of material.

I also like a chain stitched rope to interweave around the top of slipper and tying into a bow at the nape of the front of the slipper.

What a brilliant way to do the sole. This will certainly cut down on the "tile skating" we all do around here. ;)

That is a very unique but exact way of saying it, Thanks for a good chuckle! :lol:lol:lol
