CRAZY waving chevron pattern!

This is a great KNIT pattern by Lee Meredith. The pattern can be found on her blog here:

She includes info down in the comments section about converting it to a crochet pattern although she admits she is not a crocheter.

 

I'm thinking about starting this with some funky vintage variegated yarn I've got. I've been looking for the right pattern to use it in and think this is it. I thought it was neat because it is definitely a non traditional chevron pattern. Any thoughts on it?

 

(I'm not allowed to start it until I finish at least my scarf and the hat to go along with it, but that doesn't mean I can't swatch it!)
