The article had nothing to do with crochet - but it was an October 2008 one on Breast Cancer Awareness in which they had a picture of an awareness ribbon that was a crocheted scarf - I am trying so hard to figure out it's stitch - no where was it referred to but I love it

Honestly, the picture is too small for me to discern anything much about the stitch. It looks like a textured stitch, but there are many of those. Maybe you should browse through some stitch booklets and see if any of them look like it.

 

Or maybe you could write to the author of the article through the magazine....?
