Using your fingers as the knitting needle. I saw a French pattern book once for finger crocheting.

I checked out that video..neat ideas. You can also make them into rope-like handles for totes and also headbands. You could make a necklace for a youngster by making one of those flowers in the video, and make a narrow single rope for the necklace and stitching the flower on as a pendant. You could make a brooch out of the flower.
