Picot

Question

It seems that my picots always look different even though I do them the same, and I don't really like the way they look. I am refering to thread crochet. I wonder if there is a tutorial out there that shows how to make it correctly, I googled it correctly with no luck. Or if any of you can offer any suggestions. The directions state ch 3, sl st on 3rd ch from hook. Do you slip stitch through the two top loops or the loops on the side, what makes the best picot???

Thanks for your help.

Argh!! My batteries are dying and I have no replacements. :grumpy

When I do the picots, I work them through the top two loops. I insert the hook through the two loops, pull up the thread and then push the three chain stitches to the underside of the hook. It looks like there are two loops on the hook still. Then finish the slip stitch and keep working. I totally realize that what I just wrote probably makes no sense. I figured out how to do that when I made a flake which called for chaining 9, then working a slip stitch in the 6th chain from the hook. All that really is would be a really long picot. When you work that slip stitch in the 6th chain, you have a big loop of thread in your way, so I'd push it under the hook (pointing down toward the floor). Finish the slip stitch and moved on to the next one. Gradually I realized I was working the picots in the same way, and it seems to work for me.

Now feel free to yell and say it makes absolutely no sense. :wink I won't get mad but at least I tried.

Yay Heather!! (Truthfully I wasn't sure I made any sense, I'm so relieved you got something out of that! :)) ) I hesitate to say but I don't fear them now, even though I don't go hunting for them either. :wink

(Thanks for the squares, I appreciate that too. :D! )
