To line or not to line....that is the question

I was wondering what your opinions are regarding lining of felted purses. Since the purses are felted, they are sturdy and do not require lining for reinforcement. I personally like the way the felted interior looks and do add a pocket to the purse prior to felting. Does your opinion differ depending on whether it is for you, for a gift, or for sale?

I say no liner because sewing on a liner scares the * out of me. But I love the way it looks when there is a contrasting fabric liner.

 

So obviously I was no help and posted for no real reason. lol

I prefer using a lining with a zipper.(I am not good at it but I can do it) I am aftaid to use a purse without a one. If you don't want a zipper, then I would say not to because as you said a felted purse is sturdy enough without lining. In my opinion, wanting a zipper would be the only reason to line it.

i like to line all my purses because i need pockets inside my purses. keys, cell phone, change ... all gets lost if i don't have pockets. also, it gives a finished look to it.

I like the finished look of a liner.

 

I've crocheted one bag and added a liner. I used cotton yarn, so of course, I could not felt it.

 

I added my liner with a sewing machine. You have to be careful if you use a sewing machine. I had to watch to make sure the presser foot didnt catch on any stitches.
