Amigurumi Question

Recommended Posts

I had to laugh - I went to wikipedia to look up the definition of amigurumi, which wiki defines as 'knitted stuffed toy', it goes on to say it can be knitted or crocheted, etc, but then it shows a pic of a crocheted thread doily!? :think

But like Country said, you can make ANYTHING. You're only limited by your imagination. Someone recentely shared a news article showing a crocheted motorcycle cozy!!

Have fun!

This probly a stupid question' date=' but can you only make amigurumi dolls or can you make other things too? :think[/quote']

Amigurumi is a Japanese word meaning crocheted or knitted doll. It has grown, though, to encompass just about anything you can think of that is crocheted or knitted and then stuffed, from dolls to animals to flowers and vegetables with faces on them.

Welcome to the obsession:cheer. I fell in love with this type of crochet not to long ago. Here is just a small sampling of what I have made: a chihuahua, dragon, cow, flamingo, butterfly, frog, penguin, dragon fly, little kids in halloween costumes, pigs, ducks etc., etc.:eek

I have so many patterns, it will take me until I'm 70 to finish them all. One designer I absolutely LOVE is Owlishly. Here is her link. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5347491&section_id=5209930

Her patterns are well written and there are tons of pictures. I usually only use free patterns, but this is one designer whose work is well worth the price.
