Tapestry wool?

I recently picked up big bags of yarn at a rumage sale....two big honking brown grocery bags for less than two bucks...anywho....I read somewhere you can use tapestry wool to make felted thingies. If this is so, what size hook would i use?

 

 

I know the answers are here somewhere and I'll continue looking but any info to save me diggin would be grand! Im not lazy!

When I made my felted bag I used a 'K' hook and worked (loosely) in single crochet. I haven't tried any other stitches, mainly beacuse I'm told that once the piece felts, you can't see the stitch detail anyway.

I wonder if the colors bleed? Anyone know?

 

And has anyone ever felted a baby sling?

I'm not sure if the colours would bleed. I've never used tapestry wool. Is it different to good ol' 100% wool? I think a baby sling would be an awesome idea, hopefully not too itchy for baby.
