Need help with SHELL STITCH

Well I drew it out and it worked. Sounds like you are skipping too many on your ch. You may need to make your chain looser so you can see them better.

 

I am a visual person so maybe this will help you too:

 

(the arrow is where the sc goes, the lines are dc - to form shell to show where they go)

When I do the shell, I make the first stitch of the shell and then place a marker in the next stitch so it doesn't get lost in the shell, then I finish the rest of the stitches of the shell.

That is a good idea, because putting all those dc in one stitch will/can make the next stitch hard to see.
