How much shrinkage??

I want to make something and have to figure out how much bigger to make something before fulling. Does 25% bigger make sense?

Different yarns full differently. I tend to get 10-20% shrinkage, and different amounts for horizontal and vertical. The best way to check is to do a test swatch with the same stitch & hook size. I take before & after photos with the swatch lying on my cutting mat, which has 1" grid markings.

i agree with andrea.. as much as its a pain.. swatching is a helpful tool in this area..
