Yarn from Mom

Recommended Posts

My mom gave me some yarn out of her stash. Woohoo! Some of what she gave me is Red Heart Wintuk Sport Yarn. It says it's 2 ply 100% ORLON ACRYLIC fiber. I dont' think I've ever used 2 ply yarn. Anyone have any recommendations on the types of things you would create with 2 ply yarn?

Thanks! she had started a blanket with the yarn and told me to go ahead and frog it since she couldn't remember what the pattern was. I think with what she had done there is probably about 22 oz of yarn. That should be plenty for a baby blanket I think. I'll have to see if I can find a pattern I like.

Orlon acrylic is a nice, soft acrylic and you don't see it a lot now.

Sport weight does take a smaller hook because it's the next size down in weight from 4-ply worsted weight, but it's not hard to work with. If you have worked with Caron Simply Soft, it's similar to a sport weight because it's a thin 4-ply worsted.
