Trellis Headscarf

I have started this pattern, but I am getting stuck as I am new to crocheting. This is my 3rd project I've done so I know a little bit. But I'm stuck on the part where it says "sc in ch-5 sp" which I think I figured out. Do I sc 5 spaces over in the chain? If so then I did it right. The next thing I'm confused about is " sc in sc"? How do I do that? I can't find anything on the internet really explaining it well. Can you please help me? Thank you.

"sc in ch-5 sp" means you put one sc in the space below that is created by 5 chs.

 

"sc in sc" means to sc in the sc directly underneath from the row below.
