Homemade Crochet Hooks?

I was wondering if any of you know how to make your own crochet hooks?

I just wanted to know if any of you have tried this and if you know where I could get more info on it. I have searched and this is the only website where I see instructions to do so.

I make hooks.. but i don't use dowels or chopstick... never thought of it. Instead i make them from sticks (chunks of tree branches). Time consuming but they turn out ultra smooth and seem to work pretty well. Hardest part if you aren't using dowels or something with a preset diameters getting the size just so... and of course forming the hook. Very touchy business but rewarding. Its a wonderful thing to make a tool that might someday become an heirloom.
