determine multiple

Hi! I'm new here, and could use some help. I have a pattern for the granny ripple afghan. It says to ch 141 for the pattern but i want the width to be smaller. Can anyone tell me how to figure out the multiple for this pattern as it does not say? Thanks for any help.:th

I am away from home and so don't have a handy Harmony Guide with me. But as a general rule, I just analyze the pattern closely and it usually can be figured out pretty easily. Another way to figure it out is to actually start the pattern, do a few rows and then decide exactly how wide you want it to be and then count how many chains to get it that way. Wish I could be of more help, but without the pattern I can't be more specific.

i was able to determine the multiple by using MS Excel.

I have not started yet but i believe it is going to be 13 7
