Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick

Can I use this yarn to make trivits - as I was working on a burst throw I liked the way the beginning rows looked and thought it would make a nice trivit. I just don't know if you can put something hot on this type of yarn

Wool doesn't melt. And for a trivet, you're just putting hot dishes on it, right?

Wool is great for hotpads/trivets etc. Wool doesn't melt or do wierd things with heat (unless as we know it's hot water...) and is a great insulator, so furniture is protected nicely. You could always felt up the trivets and then you'd know they won't shrink if you wash them...

It does have some acrylic in it, but I think it'll be fine.

at 80% acrylic, 20% wool I would expect some melting.

It's 80% acrylic and 20% wool - its also $5.00 - $6.00 a skein - any ideas of something that is just as thick but less expensive?
