gauge help!! Please!!

Ok I am making these here checkers and board... my problem is that 12 stitches should=4 inches.. I am not getting 4 inches I have even switched from the K to a N hook and am still off about 1/3-1/4 of an inch off. So should I continue on or am I looking at the gauge completely wrong? HELP!!!

I don't think that it should really matter with this pattern, since it isn't a wearable.

You can either try going up one more size, or try loosening your tension on the yarn a little.

If you're only off by a 1/4 inch I'd have to say CongratS!

It's not a wearable, so I wouldn't worry too much. Especially if your gauge is off for all parts.... Just make sure that everything is off the same ammount

Thanks. normally I am not so concerned with gauge, but since it's felted I was wondering if that would mess me up somehow.. Also I am alittle mad because they don't give a size for the pre felted checker pieces.. grrrr so I have to guesstimate those.
