Crocheting with wire

This weekend I made a crocheted beaded wire necklace for the first time. I used 24 gauge wire (its all they had at Wal Mart!) and it turned out cute, but its pretty stiff. Any advice on how to make more flexible chain-like jewelry?

Try using finer wire up to 32 gauge. Check out Nancie Wiseman's book on crocheting with wire for more tips, maybe your library has it?

Ahh, so the higher the number, the finer the wire!

 

I have a booklet at home that I got at AC Moore...I don't remember who wrote it though. It didn't go into in-depth detail though on rules and gauge and things like that.

thats the book I recently borrowed and its really good, full of great ideas and tips for working with wire! I have made a couple of pieces and really like it!

I went to JoAnns today and bought both 26 and 28 guage wire. Hopefully these work a little better! I also got some beads, thread, more beads, findings, and more beads!!!
