This pattern shows the same effect of stitches that reach and cross which is all that you really are doing for this stitch. it is easy to do if you are comfortable with Post stitch work.

If you scroll down you can see the schematic for working the post stitches and you can see how you reach over and work a stitch different from the one you are 'standing' on'. then you just form your popcorn in the middle as you go along.

Thankyou Darski. I dug out a magazine that has a cable squares afghan. I'm going to make the squares to get used to making different cables. It has 3-post cables, lattice cables, stored canoes, tuscan cables and baby cables. That should get me used to making them.

it is mostly about practise and comfort with the method. You won't be sorry as this is a great addition to your crochet toolbox.
