*1 hdc, inc 1* (18) - Huh?

CraftyPrincess

Question

Hey guys I need a lil help. I'm trying to make a beanie cap that I found for my Blythe but I'm having a little trouble understanding the pattern.

Pattern - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=105650.0

I understand it up to the part where it increases, ie. *1 hdc, inc 1* (18) Can someone explain to me how I would do these increases? Thank you SO much in advance!

You do one hdc (half double crochet) then in the next stitch you will do two hdc together (in the same stitch). So from two base stitches, you end up with 3 new stitches for your new row. You are then going to repeat this 5 more times.

Hope this helps!

Wow....that's pretty confusing for how simple the solution!! Good thing so many people on here know what they're doing!

I know right! Thats why I vote that patterns should say exactly what to do..I mean I wouldn't mind them being a little longer if I could understand them!!
