work off pass and pick up pass

Question

I printed out a pattern from annies attic awhile back. it says each colored row (consisting of a work off pass and a pick up pass requiress approximately 14 yards. What's a work off pass and pick up pass? Thanks

it is also called tunisian crochet, it looks very similar to knit ... go to annies attic and read the how-to for tunisian, it will make 100X more sense ... basically you have a base chain and you put your hook in and yo on every ch without actually completing a sc/dc/etc so you end up with the number of loops on your hook as you had in your base chain. then you yo pull though 2 all the way across until you have just one left then you repeat that with whatever the pattern says

That's what I was thinking...Tunisian crochet...the "pick up pass" being the row you are looping your yarn on the hook and the "work off pass" being the same row you are completing the stitch.
