Mosaic crochet is very similar to what my generation called Overlay Crochet. The teardrop afghans use it in their patterns. In Overlay crochet it is alternating rows of colors using what is commonly referred to as a long sc or a long dc, which is anchored in the previous row creating a pattern.

What I call my Wall Street cap (grey pinstripe with a red border - in my avatar) is apparently a tapestry.) Didn't know that! I designed it while I was walking dogs & tried it that night, but it was frustrating. I might try it again.......

I just ordered Lily Chin DVD of mosaic crochet I watch a video on Interweave and she makes it look simple to do. The DVD is $19.95 on Interweave and worth it I can't wait to try it. You can also buy the DVD or do the a download from there too. But I like having the DVD coming in and I play it over many times and so I can really work with it.
