sewing on thread motifs tips?

I'm making an apron for someone and plan to crochet some small motifs to embellish it.

 

Does anyone have tip how to make that as easy as possible?

 

Could I use some stitch witchery to hold it in place then sew down?

I have done it a few times and I just used pins to hold them in place.
