whut's French for 'crochet'?

Recommended Posts

Just back from a wee Paris trip. We were having hot chocolate at Angelina's and somehow the topic got onto "knitting" and two people who actually speak French were trying to explain to someone about one hook vs. two needles and what is it called. I said "'Crochet' sounds French to me" and pulled out a hook to show him. Turns out in fact that "crochet" is French for "hook". Likewise, in France, Peter Pan's arch enemy is, yes, Le Capitaine Crochet! :hook

:lol :lol :lol :lol

it is "fait le crochet" making with hook in terms of french or it is also in slang called "maille maille" pronounces my-my which means stitching

That's great! I've been studying French to get ready for my friend's wedding in Canada in July. Now I will be able to tell people that I crochet. Thanks!
