crocheting with lame

Recommended Posts

i was wondering if anyone has ever done this...i just got a whole bunch of lame from my uncle, and i dunno what to do with it, so i was thinking of cutting it into strips and crocheting something out of it...my only fear is that it will fray...so i was wondering if anyone else had tried this...or if anyone else has any suggestions on what to do with lame, please let me know!

If you're talking about the gold or silver sort of thick thread, I've worked with it before. It looks really pretty when used for edging on projects. If I remember correctly, I'd tightly knot the end where I cut it so it wouldn't fray.

lee ann, I was making little fabric yo-yo's with button centers to decorate a purse and I thought of you and the lame'. I think if you cut it in circles and put frey-check around the edges and then made yo-yo's and decorated the centers with little crystal buttons they would be beautiful. then you could put pinbacks on them and they could be removed if need-be :)
