Knitted Items for some Airman

Hello ladies! I'm looking for a few people to knit slippers and fingerless gloves..yes I said knit ..for a Chaplain and his Assistant currently serving in the War on Terrorism. I am unable to post his location due to secruity reasons. His wife and I are good friends and he is such a great man and chaplain!

For handmade items such as slippers and gloves, they must be black only. Tissue holders are also nice, and can be made in any color.

Also, any inspirational books or items would be great as he is serving a very large military population at his deployed location. He will be away from family during the holidays as well. I have sent him a comfort bag, and plan to send him a few prayer rocks soon.

Anything you can do to help would be wonderful!

Donna can the gloves and slippers be crocheted?

I think crocheted would be okay, as long as they are really tight stitches. The goal is to keep out the sand and little bugs, along with the wind..so it would have to be a very "closed" stitch.
