double love knot shawl

rascal

Question

Hey - I just learned how to do the double love knot or solomon's knot stitch and would like to crochet a triangle shawl. I think I could easily figure out a rectangle but don't know how to do a triangle in this stitch. I like the patterns that start at the bottom of the shawl and then you increase each row til it's as long/wide as you want. Any ideas or patterns? I searched and couldn't find any! Thanks, Dar

I haven't seen any patterns for this stitch that start at the point and work up.The easiest way is to start at the top and work a decrease at the beg.of each round until you have one left. This gives you the triangle shape.Hope this helps.

To decrease at the beg. of the row only work the 1st half of the double knot stitch.I've been working on cleaning off my desk all day.As soon as i finish i'll hook my scanner back up and send you a diagram. It's really easy.

Christy THANKS!!! I really appreciate you taking your time to help me! The only shawls I've made are either rectangle, or the triangle that you add an increase on each end and each beginning of every row....I have tried to figure out how to increase or decrease for the lover's knot and couldn't figure it out! Thanks so much. Dar

What size are you looking to end up with?I found this pattern awhile back in a thrift store. It's over 35 y/o .But it has 2 sizes one is for a really long dramatic look and the other is an everyday street-length.The instructions for the dec work as follows:draw up a loop on the hook to 1",insert hook in center of first double knot st,yo,draw up a loop, draw through loop on hook,ch 1.So basically at the beg. of each rnd to dec you only work the first knot in the double knot.Send me you email and i'll get the pattern to you.I checked copyright and it is public as far as i can find.I believe it was a leaflet like youfind in yarn shops but it's so old i can't find any identify marks.christycreations@earthlink.net
