ponytail hat

my friend always wears a ponytail and asked me if i can make her a winter hat with a hole for her ponytail b/c she usually wears a baseball cap

 

i guess i can just leave a hole in ANY hat pattern, but does anyone have any creative pattern that would accomodate this wish?

Dot's would work very well! I saw someone make up that pattern, but they opted for a plain top instead of the ruffle. You may want to offer her that option if she is not into frillies.

On a side note I have made a version of the other ponytail hat. Not the 50's pattern that was already posted but this one: www.caron.com/projects/w/pro_w_hats.html I made it for my oldest DD when she was younger. She hardly had any hair, so I gave her a pony tail! Lol.

That's exactly what I did, I made the hat in white, left the ruffle off so I could use whatever scrunchie I wanted. I think I'll end up making it again in some other color though because the white is just to light so near my pale face lol
