Help...wooden handles

I'm going to do my first felted purse. She wants wooden handles...

The problem...I've never sewed on wooden handles before or used them at all.

Question: How do I sew them on? And do I sew them before felting or after?

Any advice is much appreciated!

well the easiest to work with imho is the D shape. there are the bamboo ones and as for sewing them on, you can do both. the easier way it to crochet sc around the flat of the D then felt them on or you can actually sew them on after (make a long flap where they will be, felt purse, then fold felted flap over handle and sew shut.) but for me i would crochet around them to begin with since if youre felting the amount of length a flap should be would potentially be hard to determine and i would hate it to be too small and not fit. goodluck!
