best stitch for felting?

I was thinking a Half Double Crochet would work up quickest using a larger than usual hook since its going to felt

 

Does anyone have any preference and if so, why is it that little bit better?

I prefer HDC too! For me it goes quickly, but if you hate the stitch use your own favorite. You're right, you want a loose stitch for felting, so to me working endless rows of single crochet is sort of pointless.

I agree! The first thing I made that I felted was all SC and it took forever. Now I almost always use a HDC. Not only does the stitch go quicker than a SC (at least for me it does) but it gets the job done quicker as well!

I like the HDC too, with a size L hook. Quick, compact stitch.
