Question

HELP! I am trying to make my first structured garment (this bolero pattern) and the stitch is working up great, but the gauge is too big - not usually a problem of mine.
I substituted Caron's Simply Soft for the Beadnik because I had it on hand, and I find that it usually works up as a thin 4-weight yarn. I have already gone down a hook size to a "G". The gauge size should be 4X4 and mine is 5 X 4 1/2. I'm afraid that if I go down one more hook size, I will lose the airiness the pattern is supposed to have.
I have frogged it once because it was too tall (heighth-wise), and it will be again. It's already 15" tall and I have 15 more rows to go. The width difference isn't really a problem, as I'm pretty busty.
Do I need to give up on SS and use a thinner yarn, like a baby weight? The pattern works up so easily and quickly that I don't mind frogging.
Here is a pic of the one front side so far for reference.

Any suggestions are welcome!
