Hi Lunatic84

Go to this page of the Patons website and you'll see all the details on Brilliant and a close-up to help you find a substitute. You'll need the info on the length of yarn in the ball and its weight to make sure you buy enough of whatever takes your fancy :)

It knits to a gauge of 24 sts/32 rows = 4in, which makes it a classic DK weight, so look for a yarn you like in DKs or light worsteds that knit to that same gauge and you should be fine. The gauge information should be on the wrapper around the skein. If you're buying online, you can find it on the manufacturer's website or at Yarndex.

Brilliant itself doesn't seem to be listed on Yarndex -- I think it's new -- but you can "browse by gauge" to find other yarns that might work. Point with your mouse to the "more. . ." tab at the top of the screen (next to "texture") and choose Browse by gauge, then fill in the gauge of 24 sts to 4in -- Yarndex works on the knit gauge :eek

The yarns listed there tend to be the more expensive ones that you'd get from a specialist yarn shop rather than a chain store, but it will give you a few ideas if you don't have a favourite yarn you want to use.

Hope this helps!
