Whats the difference

I want to know what is the difference , if any between a single crochet and a shallow single crochet. I am working on a patter which says...work in shallow single crochet around.

Thanks...that is the exact same pattern im working on...but thats not where I found it....lol:hook

sounds the same as a single crochet but I THINK the hook is inserted between the threads of the next stitch, down to under the row below, (like a long sc), yo, bring it up through the threads, yo, pull through both loops.

 

But I could be wrong!
