Zardoz - old Sean Connery movie

I was watching the movie Zardoz last night, a movie made in 1974 starring Sean Connery, and was surprised to see that many of the people that had evolved and become "immortal" were wearing a lot of crocheted shrugs!

 

I honestly thought that the whole shrug craze was a new fashion development. I don't remember seeing shrugs previously. Does anyone from that era remember shrugs?

Oh and how I disliked them at the time. It seemed like I was the only one of my friends or family who crocheted and all of them assumed all I did was make awful capes, ponchos, shrugs, vests, or granny squares.

Wow, both my sisters were just out of high school at the time and both crochet & knit, yet I don't remember their ever making a shrug. They must have hated them too!!!

 

So, do you like them now?
