Thread Edging on Fabric - washing question

crochetingmomof4

Question

I have been wanting to crochet an edging on fabric to make a baby receiving blanket. Ideally I'd love to use size 10 thread because I just love the delicate, lacy, elegant look of thread. But I am wondering how it would do in the wash. Anybody know? Does it lay flat afterwards? Will it cause the fabric to pucker after it shrinks? Will it shrink much? Is it better to use yarn for these edgings?

I have edged many a piece of fabric with thread, from hankies to tableclothes. The have all washed wonderfully. Just you will have to press the edging after it has been cleaned. I normally just spray lightly with spray starch and iron. Once again a lovey edging.
