Basic felting instructions here or on-line?

I've looked thru a bunch of threads and finding great tips on felting but is there one source on-line/or thread that has the basic instructions for felting and the best yarns to use?

If there is one such great thread here I'd love to see it And maybe it should be stickied

 

I'm loving all the felted knitting projects at my yarn circle and would love to show that crocheters can do it too

I was thinking that too. The latest "Crochet!" magazine has felting instructions but the bag patterns they use aren't that great though.

Apparently you need to use 100% wool or wool/alpaca blend and make sure its not chemically treated to be machine washable or superwash or it wont felt. Also to use hdc and a larger hook size because dc is too gappy and sc ends up like plywood. You need to put it in a pillowcase on hot wash and dry it on a towel with a form in it...
