I-cord trouble - help!

annebear

Question

Hello all,

This seems like a very silly question when you consider what I-cord stands for :lol but I have tried several times to make one and cannot get the hang of it. I do knit (though I am better at crocheting) but I just cannot figure out how to make an I-cord:think . Does anyone have instructions or a link for an I-cord? Maybe I need to hear a different way of explaining it.

Thanks in advance!!

Anne

Here are some instructions, on double pointed needles

http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/stitches/icord.htm

http://www.mindseyeyarns.com/resources/how_to/i_cord.htm

There are a ton more pages with instructions if neither of the above are easy to understand. Just google: knit I-cord

I hope this will help...

When you are finished knitting one row and the stitches are on the right hand...

DO NOT TURN. Move the needle exactly as it is to your left hand, slide the stitches down to the point on the right, (the other empty needle is switched to your right hand now) and begin knitting again. The yarn will be on the left, but as you use it to knit, it will pull the stitches into a closed circle.

Good luck - it's weird until you do it right a few times.

Thanks to all!!:yay

The links and advice were perfect. I sat down last night and figured the I-cord out. I didn't realize how tight you needed to pull the yarn for those stiches.

But I got it now and I couldn't have figured it out without everyone's help.

Thanks again!:clap
